Privacy Policy
Trip Cost Tools does not require an account. This policy explains what happens when you calculate a trip, save or share a plan, use the route feature, view advertising, or contact us.
Calculator inputs and saved plans
Ordinary calculator inputs are processed in your browser. The save button stores the entered plan in that browser's local storage until you clear it, reset browser data, or overwrite it with another saved plan. Trip Cost Tools does not receive those locally saved values through the calculator itself.
The share button places plan values, including typed start and destination text, in the URL. Anyone who receives that URL can read those values. Do not enter or share sensitive personal, payment, account, reservation, identity, health, or security information.
Route and map services
The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles and Leaflet map code. When you request a route, the start and destination text is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for location lookup and to the public OSRM service for driving distance. Those providers may receive normal request details such as IP address, browser information, time, and requested location. Their own terms and privacy practices apply.
First-party analytics
We use a lightweight MicroToolForge analytics service to count page views, normalized page paths, referrer hostnames, aggregate country codes from Cloudflare request metadata, and a limited set of product events such as tool start, tool completion, validation error, chart interaction, save, share, copy, print, repeat use, and related-tool navigation. Product events contain only the event name, site id, normalized page path, and day. Analytics observations expire after 35 days and are reported in a 14-day window. They do not contain page titles, city or region, trip locations, mileage, prices, calculator inputs, saved-plan values, email addresses, persistent visitor identifiers, or visitor IP addresses.
Google AdSense advertising
Trip Cost Tools may show Google AdSense ads. Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, advertising identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads, measure performance, prevent abuse, limit repetition, and personalize advertising where allowed by law and the user's choices.
Where consent is legally required, an applicable consent message should appear before advertising storage or personalization is used. Users can review Google advertising controls, browser cookie settings, and any consent message shown on the site. The availability and behavior of advertising may vary by region and account configuration.
Service logs and security
Cloudflare, hosting, advertising, map, route, and email providers may process technical logs for delivery, security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and legal compliance. Their retention periods and legal bases are governed by their own policies.
Contact email
If you email us, the message, address, and attachments are processed by the email provider and retained as needed to answer the request, document a correction, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. Do not email sensitive travel documents or payment information.
Your choices and requests
- Clear local storage or site data in the browser to remove a saved plan.
- Do not use the route button if you do not want typed places sent to route providers.
- Use browser and Google advertising controls to manage cookies and ad personalization.
- Email [email protected] to ask about access, correction, or deletion of information you believe we hold about you.
Policy changes
Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to later activity.
